We came up with musical ideas through the app Wasapp and came out with the album Transporte Mental. It is a mixture of hard rock and tropical influences from our country. With folkloric inspired lyrics, we are trying to inspire Dominicans and people in general to stand up for what they believe in.

Jim Kweskin – Cafe Bohemia
March 06, 2020 – New York

Jim Kweskin has worked with the most legendary folk, blues and jazz artists and is a masterful interpreter of the Great American Songbook.Jim Kweskin is the founder of the legendary 1960s Jim Kweskin Jug Band with Fritz Richmond, Geoff Muldaur, Maria Muldaur, Mel Lyman and Bruno Wolfe. During the five years they were together, they successfully transformed the sounds of pre-World War II rural music into a springboard for their good-humored performances. Their imitators were legion, including a San Francisco jug band that became the Grateful Dead, a Los Angeles jug band that became the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and a New York jug band that became the Lovin’ Spoonful. No other group attained their unique blend of youthful energy and antiquarian expertise, tight musicianship, loose camaraderie, and infectious swing. These days Jim is best known as a singer and bandleader, but he also created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival, adapting the ragtime-blues fingerpicking of artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Pink Anderson to the more complex chords of pop and jazz. He has maintained a remarkably consistent musical vision since his jug band days, continuing to ex… (read more)

Join us at the Birdland Theater for Beegie Adair with Monica Ramey and Bassist Roger Spencer!A master class on how to interpret timeless songs with style, taste and aswinging contemporary sensibility. Michael FeinsteinJazz fans and critics agree, pianist Beegie Adairs sophisticated and listenable brand of jazz has made her recordings among the biggest sellers in the jazz world. Her collaboration with Vocalist Monica Ramey is equally sublime: There was a brief period in the late 1950s and very early 60s when Capitol sagely paired George Shearing with a succession of the labels top vocalists, including Peggy Lee, Dakota Staton, Nancy Wilson and Nat King Cole. The results were uniformly wonderful, setting a standard for sophistication that has, until now, never quite been equaled. But in Monica Ramey and Beegie Adair, Shearing and company have finally met their match. Since the release of Jennifer’s self titled EP and the completion of several US tours, Jennifer leaned into a quiet period, a creative hibernation, to rebalance and regroup. Poised to close out 2019 on a high, Jennifer Hall’s booming single ‘In The Water’ and it’s accompanying music video were released in mid October, delivering Jennifer’s signature soaring vocals and unbridled passion. With additional music in the works, there is plenty more to come from this rising artist.

Tiphanie Doucet – Rockwood Music Hall
March 08, 2020 – New York

Tiphanie Doucet is a French artist based in New York. Her emotionally disarming performances deceive in their simplicity, often times consisting of nothing more than her voice and a guitar, occasionally accompanied by violinist. Yet, they nevertheless arrest audiences through their quiet, brooding intensity, holding a vulnerability that’s offset by a wintry, gallic allure.. Tiphanie Doucet got her start early on in the music and entertainment world. Harp and Ballet were part of her two passions since a very early age. A starring role in the film Le bb d’Elsa, and later in the Glee-like TV series « Chante », gave her popularity in her native France, and the unlikely foundations for what would be a very eclectic musical trajectory. After leaving France, Doucet decided to gamble it all and start fresh in America. Doucet recently released her debut album « Under My Sun », a collection of rustic, yet polished folk numbers produced by David Baron and Simone Felice, who have worked with the likes of Lumineers and Jade Bird. Though Doucet’s influences are prevalent throughout the album, nodding to the likes of Norah Jones, Ingrid Michaelson and Feist, the work is without a doubt a testament … (read more)

« A Most Violent Year » – Tambaran 2 Gallery
Through March 12, 2020 – New York, New York

Alone, dead winter, and again, Im awake with the ravens. I havent really slept since the end of November. On a Fulbright grant in Kyiv, the city of my birth. From a country that no longer exists. In a new country I no longer know, I must spend the remainder of the cold months in Ukraine. The extended metaphor: journey is uphill and the perils too real. War, martial law, global market economies, all of our lives in the balance, and always, the missing. The missing and the art are the only constants. My studio looks like a room prepped for an execution. Plastic wall to ceiling, and Im painting about myself, about vulnerability, about love, about longing. Im painting about politics, about turmoil, about misunderstanding. Im painting about systemic violence, and the present so informed by nostalgia. The winter lasts right up until the summer. I have completed some projects and broken new ground. I have suffered but ate well. I, mostly intact, brought back this testament of my time and labor for your consideration.- Misha Tyutyunik
